Day 14 Departure

Here is a photo of us both at the beach in Nice on our last day travelling. A lovely way to end our trip and Blog posts. We are now at Nice airport getting ready for our journey home. We've had lovely weather here in Nice. While we could carry on, we'll probably do interrailing again one day and highly recommend it. See you all soon back in the UK! :-D

Day 13 - Nice Parc de La Colline du Chateau

Picture from the view point up on Nice Château. Bit on the light side but the other picture shows it a bit better.

Off to Cannes shortly.

Day 12 - Nice back to Italy...

Today we have moved from our hostel to a studio apartment run by a nice older French lady.
Its worth saying she does not speak a word of English. This has been a lot of fun trying to have a conversation about payment and where things are. This tested our French but Amy is very quick and spoke quite well with her.
She is really nice and made us green tea when we showed up early.
After this we went to San Remo in Italy, which is a town just over the boarder, then we went to Ventimiglia on the boarder. We hoped to see a town market but we got lost and found the train station in time to head back to Nice.
We are excited to make our own bacon and eggs tomorrow! I realise this isn't the same kind of excitement as we have talked about before but it's a big deal to us.

Day 11 - Nice in the Sun, no trip to Spain

After a long look at Barcelona and settling on somewhere to stay it appears the trains line at Marseille is closed and not open till Monday!

We've decided to stay in Nice and fly home from here Monday or Tuesday instead and go to Barcelona another time.
We will be taking the train to Cannes at some point as recommended by the nice waiter we met in a cafe on the beach.

The sun and blue skies so not really a bad place to end the trip. We will look at where else we can see near by via train so get some more use from our passes.

Day 9 and 10 - Florence to Nice and to Monaco!

So we had a long day travel yesterday we arrived in Nice. It was over 9 hours in total with two changes. It rained so was a good day to travel. We were shattered so didn't get round to to the blog, and there wasn't much to tell.
However today we briefly looked in a Nice and it was really pretty and then we enjoyed a really sunny day in Monaco.
And since the forecast is very good have decided to stay and extra day to see Nice.
However this mean another long trip on Saturday, but that's fine by us.

Not far from where we are staying is fancy water fountain square and what I can describe as a mist generator which made rainbows.

Monaco was a must see, they are currently setting up for the Grand Prix. Lots of seating and repairs in the area.

Day 8 Florence

After Pisa, we ventured around the streets of Florence making our way up the many steps to Piazzale Michelangelo where we looked over Florence in amongst the hills and waited for the sun to go down. Little did I know that Matt was planning to propose. We got engaged and drank processco as the city of Florence lit up infront of us. What a wonderful end to our venture in Italy.  :-D

Day 8 Pisa Day Trip

After running onto the train just in time for it's departure we went on a day trip to Pisa. After running again to catch our return train, getting a bit lost on the way,  we are now at Piazzale Michelangelo loving the view of Florence and waiting for the sun to go down.

Day 6 - Venice extra photos

Day 5 Milan extra pictures

Milan.

Day 7 - Florence

So far in Florence we have decided that from our experience in Italy Calzone's do not have tomato sauce. I feel that it mosses something without it bit this could be due to the fact that I have only had calzone with tomato.
Also Florence is quite nice and easy to walk around. We have eaten and drunk a litre of wine between us.
The lady at our hotel is very nice and helpful so we've had a good idea of the area where we are staying. It's not a long walk from any main sites so we will do that tomorrow (24th).

Day 6 - Venice on foot!

Yesterday was all about walking around Venice. Seems lots of people use maps due to the winding streets and waterbuses to avoid all the canals.
Not us though, we walked most of Venice on foot.
According to the pedometer we walked 9000 steps. Which would make sense as we were shattered!
In the morning we had our first sight of rain but it brightened up as the afternoon came. The most impressive site was San Marco Plaza which I will try to upload pictures of later.
Today, Day 7, we've had a more leisurely stroll. The sun is out and Venice looks very nice.
Its worth mentioning that Venice is not that smelly, some of the side canals do smell a bit and the grand canal does smell like Paignton harbour. But that's not bad :)

Day 5 Milan to Venice!

After arriving last night in Milan and finding our accommodation we didn't visit the Duomo cathedral as we were shattered.
This morning we caught the metro to see Duomo, (which was made of marble!) and also managed to fit in going to the Parco Sempione, which is a nice central park which had a Russian festival on.
We managed to get back in time for our train which has taken to Venice.
We have to say after being for no more than 30 mins we prefer here to Milan! The area seems less like a regular busy city.
We will be here for a couple of nights. Looking forward to dinner!

Day 4 Bernina Pass Switzerland

We took the Bernina Express train from Chur to Tirano (Italy). We treated ourselves to a glass of prosecco and the whole trip was amazing! We are now in Milan (Italy). Finally found our hotel and are thinking of visiting the cathedral.
